Harmonic estimation technique for low-cost DSP implementation

This work presents a new technique for harmonic estimation (amplitude and phase) with reduced complexity for DSP implementation. This makes use of demodulation followed by filtering approaches. As a result, harmonic estimations with 1/2, 1 and 2 cycles of the fundamental component are attained. Results obtained with synthetic and measured electric power signals indicate that this technique can be a very interesting one for low-cost DSP implementation. The suitability of finite-precision implementation of the proposed technique is presented and evaluated with DSP TMS320F2812.
