Mineral composition of three lowland rice cultivars

This paper reports the mineral composition of three rice cultivars ('IR 665-4-5-5', 'IAC 435', and 'IAC 120') from low land soil of the Paraíba Valley, State of São Paulo. Sixteen elements were analyzed in dry samples from different parts of the plant (without roots) and the amounts removed from the soil by the plants were evaluated. Different behaviour was observed among the cultivars in relation to the uptake of these elements, but in general the extraction obeyed the following decreasing order: Si, K, N, Ca, P, Cl, S, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, B, Cu e Mo.
