Contributions of Dynamic Geometry to the notion of function study starting from a geometrical problem: a praxeological analysis

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe and perform a praxeological analysis of a geometrical problem that allows initiating the study of the function concept. We make a previous analysis of the knowledge and knowhow that can be used while studying this problem. Then, the problem is presented in numerous courses for Mathematics teachers, incorporating a Dynamic Geometry software. A subsequent analysis of praxeologies is performed. The research is descriptive and the theoretical framework adopted is the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic. The conclusion is that integrating Dynamic Geometry into the studying process allows learning the function concept starting from minimal praxeological equipment.
