Teaching Area of Plane Geometric Figures in the Math Curriculum of Urban Program "Projovem"

This paper discusses, from the perspective of the Anthropological Theory of Didactics, how to study the area of plane geometric figures in the mathematics curriculum of Projovem Urban Program and the relationship between this study and the principles governing the Program. There fore, documents such as the Study Guide, the Integrated Teaching, and Curriculum Design Proposals for the Education of Youth and Adultswere analyzed. We noticed that the prevalent Mathematics Organization is the calculation of the area of rectangles, by using the formula, justified by counting squares, which nears the approach in mainstream education. Moreover, the frequent use of the context of the construction points to the connection with the dimension of professional qualification, advocated the principles governing the specific Urban Program "Projovem".
