The Training of the Mathematics Educator Ubiratan D’Ambrosio: Stories and Memories

This article presents a life story of the Brazilian mathematics educator Ubiratan D'Ambrosio. It intends to rebuild his personal and professional trajectory from his childhood to the present day. Thus, several interviews were conducted and documents were consulted from his personal archive, and it was theoretically based in Nóvoa (2000) ideas, considering the impossibility of unlinking the professional teacher from his person. D’Ambrosio’s experiences and learning enable the unveiling, of an overview of mathematics education in Brazil from the 1940s, because they are useful for understanding the trajectories of teacher education and they contribute to the appropriation of different processes of teaching and learning and comprehending the daily school life.
