Forms of alienation present in an initial training activity for mathematics teachers

Abstract

This article analyzes the forms of alienation present in an initial training activity for mathematics teachers, focused on geometric constructions produced with GeoGebra. Using a dialectical-materialist analysis method, episodes of the activity were identified that show signs of alienation manifested in two future teachers, while they were involved with the trainer in solving a task. The analysis of the data yielded four findings, linked to the alienation of the product, of the productive activity and with respect to other individuals, as well as the way of acting of the trainer to break with these forms. The findings are discussed in light of the legacy of the school culture inherited by future teachers, the ethics of cooperation between them and the performance of the trainer in the activity.
