Mathematics Portfolio: an instrument for analyzing the learning process

The objective of the present action-research is to present a model of Mathematics Portfolio, with categories and indicators, as a tool for assessment and a learning strategy which values students' history and provides a space for communication, autonomy and responsibility for their own learning. In the process of constructing mathematics portfolios, digital technologies are used as a resource, which in addition to favoring the establishment of new teaching practices, also attracts students to the school environment. The final product of this research is an application in flash format, which enables the understanding of the assessment instrument, in a dynamic and interactive manner. The model offers elements for a formative and summative assessment of students as well as information that allows the students and teachers to reflect on the learning process. Findings suggest that, using this instrument, students show evidence of constructing knowledge, using learning strategies, and willingness to keep learning.
