Abstract
At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the subject of the first settlement in the Americas still remains controversial.In addition to the varied interpretations of the archaeological contexts with Pleistocene dates, divergences on the origin ofAmerindian peoples are influenced by the different logics that affect the practice of archeology in the Americas, reinforced in scientific events and academic journals. These issues will be analyzed here based on my experience as a participant in the Paleoamerican Odyssey Conference that took place in 2013 in Santa Fe, New Mexico (USA).
