Neste artigo, retomo brevemente a história da recepção de Problemas da poética de Dostoiévski, de Mikhail Bakhtin, no Brasil, estabelecendo alguns paralelos com aspectos da recepção da obra na Itália, na França e nos Estados Unidos, para, então, descrever os acréscimos da nova edição brasileira e analisar, considerando a relevância da obra para os estudos da linguagem, algumas modificações efetuadas pelo tradutor Paulo Bezerra na quarta edição da obra, lançada em 2008.

In this article I briefly review the history of the Brazilian reception of Mikhail Bakhtin's Problems of Dostoevsky's Poetics, establishing a few parallels with aspects of this work's reception in Italy, France, and the United States in order to describe the additions made to the new Brazilian edition and, considering the relevance of this work to Language Studies, analyze some changes proposed by translator Paulo Bezerra in its 4th edition, published in 2008.

O objetivo deste trabalho é discutir a importância da novela Memórias do subsolo, de Fiódor Dostoiévski, no conjunto da obra Problemas da poética de Dostoiévski, de M. M. Bakhtin. Espera-se, com isso, compreender os procedimentos artísticos aí destacados e as consequências para a concepção da polifonia, do gênero romance polifônico e de outros importantes conceitos cujas ressonâncias extrapolam os estudos do discurso artístico, alcançando a receptividade em reflexões sobre a linguagem em geral. Esse é o caso do discurso com evasivas, com qual o homem do subsolo interage, ao mesmo tempo em que luta contra todos os discursos que possam dizer sobre si a última palavra.

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance of F. Dostoevsky's novel Notes from the Underground to M.M. Bakhtin's Problems of Dostoevsky's Poetics. We hope to understand not only the artistic devices highlighted in the novel but also the consequences to the conception of polyphony and the polyphonic novel genre, and to other important concepts whose resonance goes beyond the study of the literary discourse, reaching language studies in general. This is the case of the evasiveness in speech with which the underground man interacts while fighting against all the discourses which would have the last word on him.

Na peça teatral O inferno, escrita por Bernardo Santareno, o serial killer Orfeu Wilson, à beira da cova de suas vítimas, declama frases de Ivan Karamázovi, conhecidas por meio do texto de Dostoiévski e pelo ensaio O homem revoltado, de Camus. O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar os elementos constitutivos dessa relação entre os enunciados de Orfeu e os de Ivan.

In the play O inferno, written by Bernardo Santareno, the serial killer Orfeu Wilson, at the gra ve of his victims, recites phrases by Ivan Karamazov, known through the text of Dostoevsky and the essay O homem revoltado, written by Camus. This article aims at analyzing the constitutive elements of the relationship between Orfeu's and Ivan's utterances.

Bakhtin analisou a poética de Dostoiévski não por meio de uma síntese parcial em função do discurso do escritor ou de uma de suas personagens, mas através do diálogo que deixaria de ser contingente para assumir um papel estrutural. Bakhtin, porém, não pôde demonstrar como a obra de Dostoiévski constituiria uma totalidade polifônica integral. Com o aporte da teoria crítica, procuraremos reaproximar a polifonia bakhtiniana da noção contraditória de totalidade por meio do método dialético.

Bakhtin analyzed Dostoevsky's poetics not by a partial synthesis in terms of the speech of the writer or one of his characters, but through the dialogue that would leave its contingency to assume a structural role. However, Bakhtin could not demonstrate how Dostoevsky's work would constitute an integral polyphonic totality. With the contribution from the critical theory, we will try to reapproach Bakhtin's polyphony to the contradictory notion of totality through the dialectical method.

Em Problemas da poética de Dostoiévski, Bakhtin, para afirmar as características da estética polifônica, infirma essa possibilidade em vários outros gêneros do romance. Na análise que segue, aproveitamos a reflexão do autor russo para pensar, no contraponto com o romance polifônico, as características do discurso romanesco da autobiografia presente em Infância e São Bernardo de Graciliano Ramos.

In Problems of Dostoevsky's Poetics, Bakhtin, in order to assert the characteristics of polyphonic aesthetics, excludes this possibility in several other genres of the novel. In the analysis which follows, we consider the reflection of the Russian author to think, in counterpoint with the polyphonic novel, the characteristics of romanesque speech of the autobiography in Infância e São Bernardo by Graciliano Ramos.

Este artigo propõe uma reflexão sobre o sujeito e sua funcionalidade no gênero. Busca refletir acerca do efeito polifônico na multiplicidade enunciativa que aponta para uma transgressão de gêneros. Para fundamentar nosso argumento, tomamos as ideias sobre gênero, polifonia e sujeito vindos dos teóricos M. Bakhtin (1988), J. Authier-Revuz (2001) e J. Lacan (1998), e apontamos que é o efeito da transgressão pela polifonia que permite a coabitação de diversos sujeitos linguageiros nos discursos.

This article proposes a reflection on subject and its functionality in the genre. We reflect on the polyphonic effect in multiple utterances which indicates a transgression of genres. Our arguments are based on ideas on genre, polyphony and subject found in the theories of M. Bakhtin (1988), J. Authier-Revuz (2001) and J. Lacan (1998), and we will demonstrate that the effect of such transgression, caused by polyphony, permits the cohabitation of various language subjects in the discourses.

Este trabalho procura demonstrar as afinidades existentes entre a obra de Dostoiévski e a filosofia de Mikhail Bakhtin. Por meio de uma análise comparativa, conclui-se que a polifonia, característica fundamental do romance de Dostoiévski segundo Bakhtin, realiza-se como uma síntese artística de conceitos filosóficos como singularidade, responsabilidade, inacabamento e dialogismo.

This paper seeks to demonstrate the affinities existing between Dostoevsky's literary achievement and Mikhail Bakhtin's philosophical one. Through a comparative analysis it concludes that the polyphony, the fundamental characteristics Dostoevsky's novels according to Bakhtin is as an artistic synthesis of philosophical concepts such as uniqueness, responsibility, incompleteness and dialogism.

O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar uma análise do epílogo de Crime e castigo que leve em conta a elaboração bakhtiniana acerca do romance dostoievskiano, bem como outras vertentes críticas, mais ou menos congruentes com essa elaboração. Considerando o conceito de romance polifônico e as ressalvas de Bakhtin sobre sua aplicabilidade aos desfechos dos romances de Dostoiévski, buscaremos verificar a força desse conceito nesse epílogo em particular, por meio de um diálogo com diferentes posições críticas.

This paper aims at presenting an analysis of the epilogue of Crime and Punishment which takes into account Bakhtin's elaboration on Dostoevsky 's novels as well as other critical trends more or less congruent with it. Considering the concept of polyphonic novel and Bakhtin's reserves in using it to analyze the endings of Dostoevsky's novels, we intend to verify the strength of this concept on this epilogue in particular through a dialogue with different critical standpoints.

Este estudo propõe apresentar discussões do Self (autoconsciência) da personagem na obra Crime e castigo de Dostoiévski, a partir da noção de polifonia proposta por Bakhtin. Uma análise de polifonia e seus aspectos em torno dos personagens dostoievskianos é realizada, verificando-se a questão da equipolência das vozes dos personagens, a sua simultaneidade e interação, bem como a noção de autoconsciência como elementos que compõem o espectro da polifonia de Bakhtin. Tais concepções podem ser ampliadas para a compreensão do Self na relação eu-outro.

This paper proposes to present discussions of the Self(self-awareness) of the character Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, from the notion of polyphony proposed by Bakhtin. An analysis of polyphony and its aspects around the Dostoevskian characters is held, verifying the issue of equipollence voices of the characters, their simultaneity and interaction as well as the notion of self-awareness as elements making up the spectrum of the polyphony of Bakhtin. Dostoevsky is the creator, in literature, of three new artistic forms: dialogism, polyphony and carnivalization. Dostoevsky is the artist. Bakhtin sees clearly how this writer was able to retain his creation in historical trends of ancient Menippus satire and at the same time, keep them fresh. Bakhtin is the critic. This article attempts to show Dostoevsky's creation through the critique of Bakhtin.

Dos componentes del "alma rusa" que se destacan en la obra de Dostoievski - el napoleonismo y la cristología - resultan de la interacción de la cultura rusa con la historia y la civilización occidental. Paradójicamente, la evolución de las dos líneas en las novelas del gran escritor ruso conduce a una determinada, en algunos aspectos, de los dos tipos, en particular, en El idiota. La revisión del manoseado tópico del "alma rusa" a la luz de las recientes investigaciones de los especialistas rusos pone de manifiesto nuevas intertextualidades y abre la obra a un diálogo renovado acerca de la identidad. El trabajo se inspira en la antropología filosófica y la filosofía del lenguaje de M. M. Bajtín.

This is an analysis of the two components of the "Russian soul" highlighted in the Dostoevsky's novels: Napoleonism and Christology. The origins of both of them can be found in the Western history and civilization. There is a certain paradox in the fact that the evolution of these two lines in the oeuvre of the great Russian writer arrives to an approach of the two types, the Napoleonic one and that of the follower of Christ, especially in The Idiot. A revision of the "Russian soul" under the light of the most recent interpretations of Russian critics discovers new intertexts and opens Dostoevsky's text to a renewed identity dialogue. This paper is influenced by Bakhtin's philosophical anthropology and philosophy of language.

O artigo destaca a relação que os principais conceitos bakhtinianos vinculados ao diálogo, tais como: voz, audição, escuta, tom, tonalidade, entonação, acento, etc., mantêm com o oral. Diferentemente de outros teóricos, Bakhtin não faz uma separação drástica entre a cultura oral e a escrita. Ao contrário, vincula toda comunicação à ideia do ato ético e da responsabilidade. Assim, a literatura é resultado de um ato responsável que tem qualidade sonora. A voz tem conotações subjetivas e responsáveis.

The article emphasizes the oral quality of the main Bakhtinian concepts related to dialogue, such as voice, hearing, listener, tone, tonality, intonation, accent and others. Bakhtin, unlike other theoreticians, doesn't divide drastically the oral from the written culture. Instead, he refers the idea of all communication phenomenon to the idea of the ethical act, and, in consequence, literature results in an act with acoustic quality as the base of dialogue, and is metaphorically extended from oral to written texts. Voice has personalist and answerable connotations.
