Evaluate the professional practice assessment exercise as a teaching and learning strategy

This article focuses on the professional practice assessment in a Public Medical and Nursing School. The aim of the study is to evaluate the Professional Practice Assessment Exercise (EAPP) as a teaching and learning strategy. This is a qualitative study, using content analysis by thematic modality, involving the faculty and 2nd year students of these programs. Ninety-eight percent of students and 76% of faculty considered as satisfactory the teaching and learning activities developed. Two themes were addressed: the Professional Practice Assessment Exercise (EAPP) by facilitating meaningful learning and professional competence development, and the importance of teamwork in the cooperative learning development. The EAPP was a powerful teaching tool for learning and training of health professional students, however the constant investments in faculty development are necessary.
