A Concrete Cinema: Fluxus’s Films

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the films made in the 1960s by Fluxus artists under the guidance of George Maciunas. We defend the hypothesis that they represent a significant break with the compositional paradigm of Avant-Garde cinema, proposing an interpretation of Fluxus’cinema from the point of view of Art History and developing an analysis that appreciates the collective's films in relation to their historical context of production and exhibition.
