Experimental museology of insubordinate images: Luiz Claudio da Silva’s photographic collection at Museu das Remoções

ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the musealization of Vila Autódromo, a community in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, altered between 2014 and 2016 by the process of displacements, where the Museu das Remoções was created. Based on the photographic collection produced and curated by Luiz Claudio da Silva, a resident of Vila Autódromo and curator of successive exhibitions on the community memory of the displacements, the texts outlines a museological investigation of images produced in the private sphere to challenge the regimes of visibility of public institutions in Brazil, focusing its context of production, uses and flows of musealization.
