Curating in history museums

ABSTRACT

The article discusses the challenges of curating in university history museums with reference to the theoretical debates around the documentary power of objects and images - in contrast to their traditional memorial mobilization -, the broadening of the spectrum of social subjects to which these museums should be refer and the construction of knowledge and shared responsibilities in the curatorial scope. The renewal brought by these reflections is discussed from the conceptual parameters and curatorial practice in Museu Paulista da USP since its reformulation in the 1990s.
