Abstract
The interview with Professor Maria José Coracini, Ph.D. (Unicamp, IEL/DLA), CNPq researcher 1A, was conducted virtually in 2020 and offers a series of theoretical considerations and developments on topics related to the dossier “Literature and translingual practices”. Based on psychoanalysis, the researcher revisits the concept of “mother tongue” and emphasizes - against a certain dichotomy between the native and the foreigner - the processes of making the foreign language native and making the mother tongue foreign. In this way, the reflection is accompanied by the observation and analysis of several examples of territorial and linguistic-discursive displacements, notably those linked to migration and for whose study Coracini proposes and presents the concept of language-culture. Finally, considerations about identity and language are retaken in order to critically examine the experiences of writers and intellectuals who, like Samuel Beckett, Tzvetan Todorov and Paul Celan, developed their writing outside the illusion of completeness in any specific language.
