Trauma and generational psychic transmission

Abstract:

The study of the notion of trauma has been central to psychoanalytic theory and practice since its inception. From the research proposed by Freud on trauma, pathways were outlined in psychoanalysis as well as possible developments for the clinic. Although the theme refers to the beginnings of psychoanalysis itself, the study of trauma remains extremely relevant. We propose a link between the trauma and the transmission, noting that it is not restricted to the generation that experienced it, being able to pass the effects of the traumatic event to the following generations.
