Computerized corneal topography and radial keratotomy: A clinical analysis

SUMMARY

Purpose:

To verify clinical applicances of computerized corneal topography (CCT) on incisional refractive surgery (RK).

Methods:

RK candidates underwent complete eye exam including CCT. From 219 patients, 63 were excluded due to others eye diseases or "keratoconus suspect-patients". Corneal Topography was analysed by three different observers and classified as rounded, bow-tie and irregular.

Results:

36 patients (66 eyes) were included in these analyses and underwent RK. Mean follow up was 13.7 months. Most of the topographies evoluted to a more regular pattern after RK. A significant agreement was found among the observers in the classification pre and pos operative topographies.

Conclusions:

CCT is necessary in selecting and monitoring RK patients.
