Indocyanine green angiography and scanning laser ophthalmoscopy in subretinal neovasculariza tion

SUMMARY

Purpose:

To study the utility of Scanning Laser Ophthal-moscope Indocyanine Green Videoangiography (SLO-ICG, V) in patients with age related macular degeneration and subretinal neovascularization from other ethiologies.

Methods:

A retrospective review was conducted including 90 consecutive patients submitted to SLO-ICG, V with diseases related to subretinal neovascularization.

Results:

96,67% of the patients presented age related macular degeneration (ARMD), 1, 11% idiopathic subretinal neovascularization, 1, 11% presumed ocular hysto-plasmoses (POHS), 1,1/% angioid streaks. ln the ARMD group exsudative type, there was an indication for photo-coagulation in 35%c of the cases.

Conclusion:

The SLO-ICG, V increases the probability of better defining the subretinal neovascularization prior to laser photocoagulation. lt can be used in other pathologic conditions of the retina and choroid allowing better characterization of these diseases.
