Ocular trauma caused by homemade bombs

SUMMARY

There are few descriptions of ocular trauma caused by explosion of homemade bombs. Generally, this product is used for building a well which will work as an aseptic sinkhole. This report describes two cases of patients who suffered this kind of accident and discusses its managing and prevention. The first patient presented with traumatic evisceration of his right eye, multiple perforations in the left cornea and sclera, sutured wounds in both inferior eyelids and right hand, and perforation of both eardrums. The other patient presented with foreign bodies in both corneas and inside the eyes, cataract, pieces of the lens in the anterior chamber, and anterior synechia in both eyes. In addition, his left leg was mutilated.
