Comparative analysis of the results of dark room prone provocative test of patients in sitting and ventral decubitus positions

SUMMARY

Purpose:

To evaluate the dark room prone provocative test in patients in the sitting and horizontal positions.

Material and Methods:

We studied 30 eyes of 15 patients with glaucoma. The tests were performed in a 24-hour interval.

Results:

The mean and standard deviation of the difference of IOP between the beginning and end when in the sitting position was 4.13 ± 1.77 mmHg and in the horizontal position it was 4.40 ± 2.33 mmHg for the right eye and for the left eye it was 4.13 ± 1.69 mmHg and 4.47 ± 2.07 mmHg respectively.

Conclusion:

There were no statistical differences between both positions.
