Water samples were collected from 13 tributaries in the Rio Bianco river basin and analysed for: pH, conductivity, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Fe (soluble, complexed and total), Mn, total-P, Keldahl-N, organic-N, NHa, color, humic material, CI, Si, and total-Al. The results were, analysed statistically using a correlation matrix.
Several of these tributaries had relatively low concentrations of mineral salts and according to the results of the RADAM BRASIL Project (vol. 8, 1975) would be classified as electrolyte poor.
Three of the river, the Uraricoera, Mucajai and the Branco have fertil flood-plains (varzeas), the largest being that in lower region of the Rio Branco, which could be better exploited to support subsistence agriculture in the territory of Roraima.
