Resumo: O taylorismo é identificado com o sistema de organização e administração do trabalho proposto, no início do século XX, por Frederick Winslow Taylor, e busca alcançar o máximo de produção e rendimento com o mínimo de tempo e de esforço despendidos, por meio de padronizações e simplificações num momento de expansão da indústria que exigiu grandes preocupações com a eficiência do trabalho. Apesar de vinculado inicialmente à atividade industrial, o taylorismo foi adaptado à racionalização das mais diversas atividades econômicas, inclusive da agricultura. Neste texto será analisada a obra De re rustica de Columela como uma proposta de racionalização “taylorista” do trabalho em uma villa romana do século I a.C., marcada por processos de padronização e de organização do sistema produtivo rural.

Abstract: Taylorism is identified with Frederick Winslow Taylor's system of organizing and managing the work proposed at the beginning of the twentieth century, and seeks to achieve maximum production and yield with the minimum of time and effort expended, through standardization and simplifications at a time of industry expansion that required major concerns about work efficiency. Although initially tied to industrial activity, taylorism was adapted to rationalize the most diverse economic activities, including agriculture. In this text the work De re rustica de Columela will be analyzed as a proposal of an “ancient taylorist” rationalization of work in a Roman villa of the 1st century BC, marked by processes of standardization and organization of the rural work.

As fontes visuais ganham um espaço cada vez mais amplo entre as ciências humanas e sociais. Na historiografia considera-se sua capacidade de representar os imaginários sociais e de evidenciar as mentalidades coletivas, enriquecendo ou preenchendo vazios deixados pela documentação escrita. Na cultura judaica, no entanto, a imagem teve um tratamento muito particular, tornando-se um elemento distintivo de sua identidade. O que inicialmente tinha como intenção garantir o monoteísmo javístico acaba por definir um certo aniconismo que só muito recentemente foi superado.

The visual sources acquire a wider space among the humanities. In the historiography its capacity to represent the social imaginary and to evidence the collective mentalities have been considered, enriching or filling out spaces left by the written documentation. In the Jewish culture, however, the image had a very special treatment, becoming a distinctive element of its identity. What initially had as intention to guarantee the javistic monotheism ended for defining a certain aniconism that only very recently was overcome.

A relação entre dominadores e dominados na Palestina do século I emerge de forma indireta em um documento produzido com o objetivo de relatar o testemunho do autor, Flávio Josefo, sobre a guerra entre judeus e romanos. Mais que uma guerra contra os romanos, o que se vislumbra é uma crise interna profunda envolvendo diferentes interesses de grupos judaicos alinhados ou distantes do poder do "inimigo".

The relationship between dominators and dominated in Palestine of the first century emerges in an indirect way in a document produced with the objective of telling the testimony of the author, Flavius Josephus, about the war among Jews and Romans. More than a war against the Romans, what one sees is a deep inner crisis involving different interests of Jewish groups aligned or distant of the " enemy's " power.
