RESUMO Este artigo trata sobre a trajetória de Filinto Justiniano Ferreira Bastos, abolicionista e intelectual baiano. Nascido na vila de Feira de Santana, na Bahia, em 1856, Filinto Bastos foi um importante jurista e professor da Faculdade Livre de Direito da Bahia. Durante os anos que cursou a faculdade, atuou junto ao movimento abolicionista nas províncias de São Paulo e de Pernambuco, entre 1879 e 1882. Aqui, procuro evidenciar sua experiência a partir da atuação de associações abolicionistas que tinham lugar nas faculdades de Direito no Brasil daquele período.

ABSTRACT This article is about the trajectory of Filinto Justiniano Ferreira Bastos, abolitionist and intellectual Bahia. Born in the village of Feira de Santana, Bahia, in 1856, Filinto Bastos was an important jurist and professor at the Free School of Law of Bahia. During his years he attended the abolitionist movement in the provinces of São Paulo and Pernambuco between 1879 and 1882. Here, I try to show his experience from the activities of abolitionist associations that took place in the Brazilian law faculties of this period.
